HI, I’M JACOB. I TAKE PHOTOS OF DOGS BEING DOGS.
I’m originally from New Brunswick, spent time in Ontario, and eventually made my way west to Calgary, Alberta, where I now live with my wife and our three husky/malamute mixes, Ellie, Goose, and Sunny.
Photography has always been part of my life as a hobby, but over time it became something more. It really started with my own dogs. After losing the very first dog my wife and I had together (Andy), I realized that while we had photos of him, so many of them were blurry, rushed, or missing one of us entirely. We had memories, of course, but not many photographs that truly captured what life with him felt like or the connection we shared.
That changed the way I saw photography. I started taking photos of our dogs more intentionally so we would always have those moments to look back on — not just the big ones, but the everyday things too. The expressions, the personality, the chaos, the quiet, and the relationship between dogs and the people who love them.
Now, that’s what I want to create for other people too. Photos that feel real, that capture your dog as they are, and that become the kind of memories you’re grateful to have years down the line.
